University
Apartments is a family owned apartment complex housing
students attending the University of New Hampshire. Since
1949 the Apartments have been owned by: Harmon S. White,
Mrs. Anna
Belinsky (Mrs. “B”), William T. Nescot, and Mrs.
Marcia L. Nescot. The P.J. Maguire Agency managed the
complex for the Nescot family from 1988 until recently when
management returned to the family under the guidance of the
CEO Nescot Properties; Mr. Robert J. Malin and Property
Manager/CFO Lisa R. Nicholson.
The original
two buildings of University Apartments were built in 1949 by Harmon S.
White and were unique in their design for the period. Each
building was comprised of 10 apartments. In 1949 there was a
severe shortage of off campus housing for students, particularly those
returning veterans of WWII who were now able to attend the
university under the GI Bill of Rights. University
Apartments helped fulfill the need for housing for returning
vets and junior faculty. In the early 1980’s, a center
section was added by
William
Nescot
that joined the
two buildings and added 6 additional apartments. Today,
all of our apartments are filled by UNH students, many whose
parents lived here when they attended in years past.
Nescot
Properties and University Apartments are providing new
on-site management with a new team composed of: Mrs. Lisa
Nicholson as CFO and Property Manager; Mr. Clifford
Brown as Maintenance Chief, and Mr. Bennett Ball as
Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Technician. An extensive
period of building rehabilitation and maintenance was
conducted through the summer of 2004. Management
office is located in the north section by the middle parking
lot and maintenance is located in the rear of the complex by the
upper parking lot.
